Unequal distribution of Time slots between Na Maloom Afraad 2 and Punjab Nahi Jaungi - Movingtrend
Dawn - Wednesday August 30, 2017
This Eid-ul-Azha there are only two local films available to watch. The first one is Na Maloom afraad 2 a comedy film, it stars Fahad Mustafa, Javed Sheikh, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Hania Amir and Urwa Hocane. The Second one is Punjab Nahi Jaungi, it casts Humayun Saeed, Mehwish Hayat and Urwa Hocane in lead roles.
Filmmaker and producers attracts their audiences in Cinemas houses near Eid and movies are scheduled to released on Eid due to holidays.
But time slot which is given to the Punjab Nahi Jaungi is unfair. Humayun Saeed said, "I do think it's unfair."
More showtimes are given to Na Maloom Afrad 2.
Mohsin Yaseen of Cinepax said to Images, "Cinepax's show timings are based on the duration and length of the film, as well as the public demand and box office numbers." " Eid clashes generally depend on the film, if the film is a hit it'll do well, otherwise it won't."
More showtimes are allotted to the Na Maloom Afraad 2 in all cinemas. Nadeem Mandviwalla of Atrium cinemas said to Images, " bad strategy "
about the releases of Films on Eid. He said,
"Films which have a good public perception should not be released on the same date as we do not have a big market that'll allow those films to do well at the same time." "The cinemas will divide the shows automatically and that is not going to be good for either of the films."
He also added, "If Eid films are doing well and collecting Rs 30-40 crore [altogether], the money will divide between the two."
He said the both Films have good public perception, Na Maloom Afraad 2 is an average entertainer as the reports are coming. But the Punjab Nahi Jaungi is family oriented Love story film which will get long term popularity. According him the both films will lose.
He said, "On Eid days there is a different kind of a public that comes [to the cinemas] and it's not the family-oriented public, so initially NMA2 might have an edge but that will not remain there very long. If both films do well during the first week, their collection during the second week will also be divided."
