Rs5m for the Renovation of the IQBAL Library has been allocated | Jhelum - Movingtrend
Jhelum Deputy Commissioner Iqbal Hussain Khan visited the historical old building Iqbal Library which was once known as Lala Rajpat Rai Library. The DC said Rs5m had been approved for the rehabilitation of the Iqbal Library and the roof of its building would be reconstructed.
Five million rupees has been allocated for the renovation of the old building called Iqbal Library. That Library had established on May 3, 1936 by the well-known figure of the Sub-continent Avtar Narin, the father of the former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral.
Another library Bagh Mohallah at Gurdwara Bai Karan Singh Ahlowalya in the city was renamed as Iqbal Library in the name of Allama Iqbal after the Partition.
Later on in 1960 both libraries combined by the local authorities and named Iqbal Library.
That building is utilized by the Polic and its another part is dysfunctional no books and infrastructure is available. The DC Iqbal Hussain Khan approved Rs5m for the reconstruction of the library. He assured that the library should be opened within 2 months for the public.
